This workshop aims to assess the financing environment for African companies as well as the legal framework,
regulatory and conventional means of securing said financing. It will be a question of discussing around the main
following issues:
• Risks of corporate finance in Africa;
• Sureties and guarantees for business financing: between classicism and modernism;
• Financial rating and financing of African companies;
• The contribution of insurance to the financing market for African companies;
• Public structures guaranteeing business financing;
• The security advantages of business financing mechanisms: the case of leasing and factoring;
• Techniques for strengthening and improving the efficiency of the debt collection system with regard to companies;
• Recovery of outstanding payments from companies in difficulty;
• Settlement of disputes relating to business financing in Africa: the contributions of mediation
and arbitration.
