ERSUMA & OHADA

The Regional School of Magistracy (ERSUMA) is one of the Institutions of OHADA. Attached to the Permanent Secretariat, it is instituted by Articles 3 and 41 of the OHADA Treaty and organized by the ERSUMA Statute of October 3, 1995 revised by Regulations No. 004/2009/CM/OHADA of December 19, 2009 , N°0013/2011/CM/OHADA of June 17, 2011 and N°02/2016/CM/OHADA of October 28, 2016 on the revised Statute of ERSUMA. Located in Porto-Novo in the Republic of Benin, its role is to improve the legal environment of the States Parties of OHADA through awareness-raising, popularization, continuous and initial training, evaluation of the application of the law of OHADA and any other community law and continuous support for legal professionals, accounting professionals and companies.

ERSUMA has five main missions:

• Improving the legal and judicial system of States Parties;
• Ensuring the capacity building of magistrates and other legal auxiliaries of States Parties with respect to the Uniform Acts and all areas of business law;
• Ensure the appropriation of OHADA law by professionals and litigants;
• Act as a center of excellence for research and documentation in OHADA law and any other community law;
• Be in close liaison with the CCJA and the other high national courts, in order to guarantee uniformity in the interpretation and application of OHADA law.

ERSUMA has a Training Center, a Research Center, a Documentation Center, a Legal Translation and Interpreting Center. She is responsible for raising awareness, popularizing, training and building capacity in business law in general, in OHADA law and other African community rights in particular.
ERSUMA's training activities are open to everyone, mainly legal and accounting professionals and economic operators. Thus, can be cited among the auditors of the training sessions:
magistrates, lawyers, notaries, bailiffs, judicial officers, clerks, auctioneers, corporate, bank or financial institution lawyers, accountants and certified accountants, legal representatives, economic operators, academics, etc. ., as well as managers and company directors, company administrators. The training provided by ERSUMA takes place face-to-face at the head office or in any
another place, or by videoconference.
Inaugurated in 1997 and operational since 1998, ERSUMA enjoys the status of an international institution that works to improve the legal and judicial environment in all OHADA Member States.

 In nearly (24) years of practice, it has to its credit more than fifteen thousand (15,000) people trained,
from diverse professional backgrounds. ERSUMA is currently carrying out a vast homogeneous program of expansion and diversification of its
training. In this perspective, ERSUMA has undertaken to develop diploma courses on a larger scale. Aware of the systemic advantages of initial training in the "legal system" of OHADA, ERSUMA plans to create, alongside its professional training, a degree course in the form of a Research Master whose implementation is envisaged via “OHADA Chairs” hosted by structures
public and/or private training in all continents.

FIPROD is a professional event characterized by its diversity and openness. It is the place of meeting and exchange that brings together all legal professionals, all professions combined.
